Previously, the head of the Italian government had highlighted issues of artificial intelligence as part of the key topics under Italy's presidency of the G7.

In a video recording, Premier Meloni stated that the Italian presidency of the G7 aims to highlight the importance of the Holy See's stance on artificial intelligence and bring it to other leaders' attention during the G7 summit in Apulia from 13 to 15 June. She also mentioned the Pope's involvement in the session on this topic, though she did not detail the nature of Francis's participation.

- It is the first time in history that a pontiff will take part in the workings of a G7 - Meloni said.

The G7 agenda will also cover global conflicts

Moreover, the Italian Prime Minister declared that the G7 would reaffirm its support for Ukraine and continue efforts towards a fair and lasting peace.

Additionally, the Prime Minister announced that they would also address the conflict in the Middle East, with a commitment to preventing any escalation and working towards restoring peace, stability, and security across the region.
