Polish presidency in EU: Zelenskyy vows stronger Europe

"We are convinced that the Polish presidency will make Europe stronger," writes Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the X platform. The President of Ukraine referred in this way to Poland taking over the presidency of the EU.

In his New Year's post, Zelenskyy also addressed the latest Russian attack on Ukraine. "This morning, after yet another attack by Russian combat drones, highlights the key priorities once again: Europe’s defence capabilities require constant strengthening. Only through strength can Russia be forced into peace," he wrote.

"Our cooperation across the continent and integration processes demand greater urgency in implementing decisions. We look forward to tangible progress in negotiations regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU," the President of Ukraine emphasised.

The end of Russian gas supplies through Ukraine

This was not the only post Zelensky made on platform X on Wednesday. The President of Ukraine also addressed the cessation of Russian gas transit through his country. "The more gas available on the market from Europe's true partners, the sooner the last remaining consequences of Europe's reliance on Russia will be eliminated," he wrote.

"As a result of Russia weaponizing energy and resorting to cynical blackmail of partners, Moscow lost one of the most profitable and geographically accessible markets," Zelensky emphasized.
