Poland's covert operations: supply of MiG‑29 aircraft to bolster Ukraine's defense

Poland is a participant in the "air coalition", an initiative intent on providing Ukraine with Western multi-purpose aircraft. Although experts suggest that planes alone may not be sufficient to defeat Russia, they could significantly bolster Ukraine's military support.

This leads us to a video that has garnered much attention, showing a small convoy travelling along a Polish road. The recording features a police-escorted Iveco truck transporting a MiG-29 aircraft on its trailer.

The aircraft bears no visible national insignia, and it's believed the footage was captured near our country's eastern border.

Poland's planes for Ukraine

The Bulgarian Military website has ventured a brief analysis, discussing Poland's role in providing Ukraine with the essential parts to operate MiG-29 aircraft. The write-up also considers the possibility of Poland donating entire planes.

What's striking, as pointed out by the Bulgarian Military, is that - on record - Poland claims to operate only 28 MiG-28s and this figure doesn't fluctuate during the Ukraine conflict. "Only" seems remarkable considering the increased number of machines purchased and received from the Czech Republic and Germany, which brings the total count above 40.

Taking into account aircraft losses due to accidents, it appears that Poland has access to several machines that can serve as a reserve for parts, or a foundation for repair and pre-flight preparation.

In this context, the site cites Zbigniew Parafianowicz's book "Poland at War", which suggests that deliveries of aircraft equipment from Poland began as early as 2022.
