Peter Green's son left destitute, living on London streets

Four years ago, the legendary musician Peter Green, founder and leader of Fleetwood Mac, passed away. It turns out that his 38-year-old son, Liam Firlej, is homeless and living on the streets of London. He received nothing from his father's estate, worth £4.5 million, reports the Daily Mail.

Liam Firlej, son of Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green, continues the family's musical tradition by playing instruments in front of Richmond station in London. His father passed away in July 2020, leaving behind a fortune worth millions of pounds. Despite this, according to the Daily Mail, Liam received no inheritance.

Liam Firlej is the result of Peter Green's relationship with Janina Firlej. The musician refused to acknowledge his son until DNA tests in 2017 confirmed their relationship. Liam grew up without a father and was under the care of his grandmother, Maureen Firlej, as his mother struggled with health issues.

"I'm a musician just like my father, I can play multiple instruments' Liam said. 'It's in the blood," says Liam, as quoted by the Daily Mail. Currently, he lives in a green tent in the centre of Richmond, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and mental health problems have almost driven him to suicide.

"When you're homeless your pride is non-existent" – said Liam to MyLondon.

It's dead, it doesn't exist. You can't feel good about yourself. I just feel numb all the time. That's when you don't care about yourself, you self-destruct. You just hate yourself and start drinking - he said.

Liam served in the army but left in 2003, opposing the war in Iraq. He worked in various places, including as a support worker at the Brixton Night Shelter. His three-year-old daughter is his greatest motivation to live.

According to the Daily Mail, Peter Green left most of his fortune to his siblings in the will and part to his daughter Rosebud, whom he had with his ex-wife, Jane Samuels. Liam was not included in it.
