Perfectly marinated lemon chicken: Your secret to crispy skin
Although chicken thighs might seem like a somewhat cliché dish, a unique marinade can transform their flavour and make the skin delightfully crispy. This is the best recipe for a quick dinner, suitable for both everyday meals and special occasions.
The marinade is the best way to add tenderness and flavour to prepared meat. In this version, citrus aromas add freshness and lightness without overpowering the delicate thighs. Adding yoghurt ensures that the thighs become perfectly juicy and tender after baking. With crispy skin, the perfect dinner meat is ready.
Meat marinade
In many countries, the addition of yoghurt or buttermilk is known as a marinade trick. Yoghurt contains lactic acid, which helps break down the fibres, making the meat perfectly tender and juicy. Simply mix plain yoghurt with your favourite spices, immerse the meat, and let it soak to absorb the flavours.
Lemon chicken with crispy skin
In this marinade, not only the yoghurt but also the lemon addition play an important role. Combined with oregano, it gives an exceptional flavour, making you love this chicken thigh recipe from the first bite.
Ingredients:
- 4 chicken thighs,
- half a cup of Greek yoghurt,
- 1 tablespoon of dried oregano,
- juice from one lemon,
- 3 cloves of garlic,
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 1 teaspoon of salt,
- 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
Preparation:
Step 1. Transfer the meat to a bowl and add the lemon juice. Be careful not to let any seeds fall in. Then add Greek yoghurt, olive oil, dried oregano, garlic (pressed or grated), salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Cover and set aside to marinate for at least an hour.
Step 2. After this time, transfer the marinated meat to an ovenproof dish lined with parchment paper. Place it in an oven preheated to 170°C and bake for 40 minutes.
At the end of baking, you can turn on the "grill" option and bake the chicken for an additional 10 minutes to make the skin even crispier.
Step 3. Transfer the ready meat to a plate and serve with your favourite salad. It will taste great with potatoes, chips, or grains and rice. Enjoy!
