Recipe for pears in vinegar

Ingredients:
- 2.5 kg of firm pears,
- 1.2 litres of water,
- 225 grams of sugar,
- 175 ml of 10% distilled vinegar,
- 1 tablespoon of cloves,
- 1 cinnamon stick.
Preparation:
- Preparing the pears: Peel the pears, cut them in half, and remove the seed cores.
- Preparing the brine: In a large pot, boil water, sugar, vinegar, cloves, and cinnamon.
- Cooking the pears: Add the pears to the boiling brine and cook on low heat for about 10-15 minutes until they are soft but still hold their shape.
- Sterilising the jars: Scald the jars and lids.
- Filling the jars: Transfer the hot pears to the sterilised jars. Also pour the brine into the jars, leaving about 1 cm of free space from the top edge.
- Sealing the jars: Seal the jars tightly and set them upside down to cool.
