Easy to prepare, it's an ideal solution for the entire family, especially on chilly days.

Pear syrup recipe

Pear syrup is the perfect solution for home health support during the cold season. Easy to make, delicious, and effective, it can replace many pharmacy remedies. Try making it today and notice the difference.

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg of pears,
  • 240 ml of honey,
  • juice of 1 lemon,
  • 475 ml of water,
  • 1 piece of ginger root (optional),
  • 2 cinnamon sticks,
  • 3-4 cloves.

Preparation:

  1. Thoroughly wash the pears, peel them, remove the cores, and cut them into cubes. Place them in a large pot and cover with water.
  2. Add sliced ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Cook on a low heat until the fruits soften and release their juice.
  3. Strain the pears and pour the resulting liquid back into the pot. Add honey and lemon juice. Heat for a few minutes, but do not bring to a boil in order to preserve the qualities of the honey.
  4. Pour the hot syrup into sterilised bottles or jars and seal tightly.

Why is pear syrup effective?

Pear syrup is a unique natural remedy for alleviating cold symptoms and respiratory infections. Pears are rich in pectins—a type of fibre that creates a protective layer on mucous membranes, preventing them from drying out and becoming irritated. As a result, coughing becomes less bothersome and the throat heals faster.

Pears also contain vitamin C and phenolic compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help the body fight infections. Additionally, they are a source of natural sugars that gently support a weakened body, providing energy during illness.

The addition of honey to the syrup enhances its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as honey is known for its ability to inhibit bacterial growth and soothe throat inflammation. Ginger, cinnamon, and cloves—optional syrup ingredients—have a warming effect, support the immune system, and help eliminate toxins from the body.

How to use the syrup?

Pear syrup can be consumed on its own—1-2 tablespoons several times a day—or added to warm tea as a natural sweetener. It also works brilliantly as a topping for desserts or crepes, making its health benefits a delicious pleasure.
