Currently, blunders at football stadiums have become practically regular occurrences. Time and again, social media is flooded with footage of bizarre situations that are sometimes hard to believe.
Of course, they happen in both the top leagues of the world and those that are not very popular. The competition in Estonia certainly belongs to the latter group.
The Premium Liiga is the country's highest division of men's league football competitions. On a Friday afternoon, the first match of the eighth round was played, and a goal made some noise.
This refers to the match between Parnu Vaprus and Nomme United. In this rivalry, three goals were scored, and interestingly, all were scored by the home players. As you can guess, one of them was an own goal. Only, it was very bizarre.
The locals took the lead in the 12th minute, but a tie occurred just a moment later. This was thanks to Ranet Ristikiv, who, after intercepting the ball, decided to pass it back to his goalkeeper. Only, it bounced before him, turning his pass into an overhead transfer.
Goalkeeper Ott Nomm, seeing the ball flying, decided to try and play it with his head. Unfortunately, he missed the ball, and since it was heading towards the goal, it ultimately landed in the net.
Despite such a mishap, the home defender could breathe a sigh of relief. His team clinched the final triumph thanks to a goal in the 61st minute.
