Overnight stay in a giant potato: A unique Idaho experience

Boise, United States, is probably the only place where you can spend the night inside a giant potato. Surprisingly, it is stylish and cosy.

Potatoes are one of the most versatile and universally respected vegetables. The farm, owned by Kristie Wolfe in Boise, United States, offers an unconventional attraction for all lovers of new potatoes with dill, fries, and mashed potatoes. You can stay inside a six-tonne potato.

The Big Idaho Potato Hotel is an Airbnb on the farm, created inside a giant potato (unfortunately, it's not real). The big spud is made of steel, plaster, and concrete. Initially, it was transported on a truck trailer that visited 48 states in the USA to promote awareness of Idaho's most famous vegetable.

The tour was supposed to last only a year but took seven years. When it finally ended, the giant potato was transformed into a unique place to stay. It was "planted" in a field in southern Boise with breathtaking views of the Owyhee Mountains. The interior was designed by Kristie Wolfe, who specialises in building "tiny homes."

Inside is a double bed, a rustic antler chandelier, two pink chairs, bookshelves, a small sink, a mini-fridge, and a record player. The interior is stylish, looks very comfortable, and is eco-friendly. It has electrical outlets to use all your devices inside the potato.

Outside, there is a silo that has been converted into a mini spa, complete with a bathtub that allows you to "soak and stargaze" at the same time. The Big Idaho Potato Hotel also features a sweet Jersey cow that will be your personal pet during your stay. Her name is Dolly.

The Big Idaho Potato Hotel is not the cheapest, costing £216 per night. However, reviews on Airbnb at a 4.9 level indicate that it might be worth its price. One of the five-star reviews reads: "We had a wonderful night at the Potato Hotel. It's such a fun, charmingly quirky space, and we really appreciated all the thoughtful touches inside. It's cosy and well-equipped."
