- Donald Trump nominated billionaire Scott Bessent for the position of Treasury Secretary in the new US administration—a key role in economic and fiscal policy. The President-elect praised him for his strong support of the "America First Agenda".
- The son of Norwegian Princess Mette-Marit from her first marriage, who is suspected by police in Norway of two rapes, attempted to destroy incriminating evidence against him, investigators revealed on Friday. Marius Borg Høiby was temporarily detained in connection with further accusations from his partners.
