Obama defends his playlist: 'I listen to everything'
Barack Obama, former President of the United States, as he does every summer, shared a playlist with his favourite songs. Among his top picks is the track "365" from the album "BRAT". The politician is facing accusations of being a poser.

This summer gave us no choice. The vacation season unquestionably belonged to Charli Xcx, and although many great albums were released in 2024, sorry not sorry - the June release by the British artist outclassed the competition (at least in the category of the best summer album). Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish? Never heard of them.
BRAT SUMMER was everywhere and it became not just a musical trend, but also a practised lifestyle. Fast life, fast sunglasses, spontaneous trips, dates, nights out in the city: Charli Xcx wrote fans a justification for being financially irresponsible and emotionally immature.
Does listening to such turbopop (that is, pop, hyperpop, British rave-inspired music) align with the character of Barack Obama, the former President of the United States? Probably... not really, and that’s why the politician had to explain that his playlist, which includes WILLOW, Beyoncé, SZA, Stevie Wonder, Ice Spice or Bad Bunny, also features Charli Xcx and her signature song about doing lines and partying.
People didn’t believe Obama listens to Charli Xcx
- You know, people like to question my playlists. But I listen to every song. "365"? Yes, I know it. It’s catchy! [...] I take my musical playlists seriously. If I put a song on there, it means I listen to it - said the former President of the USA on the "I've Had It" podcast. He added that his daughters help him stay up to date with the trends and they often send him new tracks to check out.
Barack Obama has been publishing his playlist every year since 2015, which showcases a variety of music genres. From Bob Dylan to Charli Xcx - the politician is the perfect embodiment of the phrase "I listen to everything". And although the matter seems trivial - in the USA, Obama's summer playlists are a really big deal.
