Nutty mountain: The holiday salad set to dazzle Christmas tables

The continuation of unique holiday salads leads me to recommend a delightful dish called the nutty mountain. You've probably guessed which main ingredient takes centre stage. And what goes with it? First and foremost, potatoes. This will be this year's sensation!

Nuts have long been a key component in my kitchen. I adore their flavour, appearance, texture, and health benefits. I sometimes use nuts to prepare cakes, coatings, and, of course, salads. Nuts particularly complement salads wonderfully. This was confirmed by a recipe I recently received from a neighbour. Interestingly, it supposedly originates from Turkey. I swiftly decided to incorporate this recipe for the forthcoming Christmas holidays.

To create the nutty mountain, besides the walnuts themselves, you will only need a few more ingredients. Gather some potatoes, eggs, and apples. In addition, you'll require mayonnaise, a bit of dill, and some wine. You can be confident that you'll be pleased with the result, and your fellow diners will be captivated. Surprise them at Christmas with the nutty mountain and watch their reactions – it will be sheer delight!

Nutty mountain salad

Ingredients:

  • 450g potatoes,
  • 2-3 apples,
  • 250g walnuts,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise,
  • 60ml red wine,
  • Salt,
  • Pepper,
  • Dill.

Preparation method:

  1. I cook the potatoes for the salad with their skins on. I peel them only after cooking, once they are soft and cooled. Finally, I cut them into cubes.
  2. In the meantime, I peel the apples, remove the cores, and then chop them into small pieces.
  3. I chop the hard-boiled eggs in the same way.
  4. I finely chop the walnuts.
  5. I transfer all the ingredients to a salad bowl, leaving a few walnuts to sprinkle on top.
  6. I season the salad with mayonnaise, wine, salt, and pepper.
  7. I also add chopped dill and mix.
  8. I garnish the top with walnuts, and it's ready. Enjoy your meal!
