Novi Sad station tragedy: Roof collapse kills one, injures more

Part of the roof of the railway station in Novi Sad, Serbia, has collapsed. At least one person has died, and several others have been injured, according to local television.

Serbian media reports indicate that the accident occurred just before 11 a.m. Emergency services have been dispatched to clear the debris, including ambulances, fire trucks, and heavy machinery.

Tragically, one person has died, and many have sustained injuries.

The facility was recently reopened after renovation

Media reports emphasise that the facility had recently undergone renovations. The first renovation took place in 2021, but a few months later, a decision was made to undertake further work. The official reopening of the station was on 5th July 2024.

In response to the incident, the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, has cut short a working visit to Montenegro.
