Backstreet Boys is one of the most popular boy bands in pop music history, and it became a real sensation in the 90s. However, behind the popularity was darkness. The band's leader, Nick Carter, was accused of sexual assault. The alleged victims will speak out in the latest documentary series "Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter".

Backstreet Boys was founded in 1993, and three years later, its debut album was certified gold and platinum in as many as 38 countries, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. The group, which today consists of Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough, and AJ McLean, has released 10 albums – the last one was released in 2022. Although the group's biggest fame has passed, many people still sing along to "I Want It That Way" or "Everybody". And to this day, the group's leader is facing allegations of sexual assault.

Nick Carter accused of sexual offenses. A documentary has been made about it

This aspect of the star's life is narrated, among other things, in the documentary series by Investigation Discovery. "Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter" features interviews with three women, Melissa Schuman, Ashley Repp, and Shay Ruth, who have accused the boy band member of inappropriate sexual behaviour. Carter filed a lawsuit against two of them at the beginning of last year and initiated legal action against the accusers.

The documentary trailer promises to address the struggles with mental illness and drug addiction by the Backstreet Boys star. The production will also examine Nick's relationship with his younger brother, Aaron (who passed away in November 2022), after he publicly supported the accusers. Excerpts of their testimonies are a significant part of the preview.

The premiere of the documentary "Fallen Idols: Nick And Aaron Carter" will take place on Tuesday, May 7, at GMT on the Investigation Discovery channel and on the Max platform. It is not yet known whether and when the title will be available in Poland. However, you can currently watch the famous miniseries "Silence on Set. The Dark Side of Children's TV" about victims of paedophilia, which took place during the production of popular Nickelodeon channel shows, on HBO Max.
