A few days ago, a crew led by James Gunn started filming the upcoming movie "Superman" with David Corenswet in the lead role on the streets of Cleveland. These photos not only give us a first look at the supporting characters from the Daily Planet newsroom but also the first opportunity to see Superman's costume in daylight.

Fans thrilled with the new Superman: "He looks iconic"

People have been reacting enthusiastically to these photos—interest was so high that the hashtag Superman trended in the number one spot on Twitter for several hours after the first materials appeared.

Most people felt that Corenswet's costume brought to mind older, more traditional versions of the hero, especially Christopher Reeve's portrayal. Many have noted the distinctive shorts in the costume and the gold emblem on the superhero's red cape.

"This suit is amazing ," fans gushed.

"That's literally him"; "Iconic"; "That's Superman!" are just a few of the many comments that appeared on social media under the photos of Corenswet in the classic blue and red suit.

The photos of Superman's human alter ego, Clark Kent, were received less warmly. Some noted the strange hairstyle, while others said it fit perfectly because the two men are supposed to look quite different:

"No way anyone thinks this guy is Superman. It's a perfect look."

In addition to Corenswet in the lead role, the film "Superman" will also feature Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Nicholas Hoult, who will play Superman's legendary antagonist, Lex Luthor.

James Gunn, known for the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, will direct and screenwrite the project. It will tell the story of a fledgling Man of Tomorrow who is just beginning to help the residents of Metropolis. The premiere of "Superman" is planned for July 2025.
