Stoltenberg revealed his worries, stating: If Putin is victorious in Ukraine, there would be no reassurance that he wouldn't attack other countries. The NATO leader emphasised that supporting Ukraine and boosting the alliance's defensive capabilities are crucial in defending against potential threats from Russia.
- A deterrent is effective only when it's believable - he added, highlighting the significance of a resolute and robust stance.
Stoltenberg underscored the necessity for the swift expansion of the arms industry in NATO countries. He recommended that member countries ramp up the manufacturing of weapons and ammunition in order to supply Ukraine with more equipment, as well as to fill their own stockpiles.
- This implies shifting from slow production in peaceful times to swift production during conflicts - stated Stoltenberg, underlining the importance of adjusting production speed to the prevailing international situation.
NATO's chief warns: Putin is preparing the economy for war
NATO's Secretary General has also noted that Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, is currently readying his nation's economy for a possible extended war.
- This is why we must do more for our security - Stoltenberg added, accentuating that NATO needs to implement suitable steps to safeguard its member nations against potential threats.
