In recent seasons, he has battled more with recurring injuries than with rivals on the court. The injuries have prevented him from returning to play at the highest level.
Rafael Nadal has decided to stop and ended his career at the age of 38. He shared his decision with fans in a video.
Away from the court, Rafael Nadal spends time in a luxurious villa in Mallorca, which he purchased in 2013 for approximately £3 million. The residence is located in the picturesque Porto Cristo with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.
The house includes a gym, which allows him to stay in shape, and spacious windows that offer views of idyllic coves.
Nadal ended his career. He leads a luxurious life
To travel around the world, Nadal uses his own jet – a Cessna Citation CJ2+ valued at £5.1 million, which can accommodate eight passengers and costs about £226,000 a year to maintain.
This jet, Nadal admits, provides him with comfort and helps him avoid the risk of being stuck at airports, which once happened to him. Nadal, grateful for Roger Federer's help in the past when Federer gave him a lift in his private plane, now eagerly offers rides to his court colleagues. Viktor Troicki published a photo on Twitter thanking Nadal for a ride to London.
Nadal also owns an impressive catamaran. In 2019, he sold his Italian MCY 76 yacht for £2 million and acquired an 80 Sunreef Power catamaran for £4.6 million.
The luxurious vessel was designed for long voyages and complete comfort. Onboard, there is a garage for a jet ski, a jacuzzi, a bar, and a heated pool. The spacious living area on the main deck offers panoramic sea views.
