The remains were found on Friday evening; however, due to challenging conditions, rescuers were able to bring the body to the surface only the following day, according to members of the local speleological rescue centre.
The operation to recover the body involved 13 mountain rescuers and lasted several hours.
The body was identified as that of a middle-aged man, who was found without any caving or climbing equipment.
The local civil defence commander clarified that the deceased had not been accompanying the Polish cavers, and no missing person reports had been filed in the area. Police have since taken over the case and are conducting an investigation.
