In the morning, right after waking, it's crucial to hydrate. After sleeping for 7-8 hours, the body can be dehydrated, and then it's best to reach for a glass of water. You can also try other natural drinks and mixes that will help kickstart your day.

A glass of water, coffee, or maybe tea? What do you drink on an empty stomach, before breakfast, before you fully start your day? Here are a few drink suggestions that will help us "get going" in the morning and boost our metabolism. Remember, though, that nothing can replace a balanced diet and physical activity.

Non-carbonated water

Right after waking, the first thing to do should be to grab a glass of non-carbonated water. It's the most recommended drink, is calorie-free, aids digestion, and helps cleanse the body of toxins. Drinking water on an empty stomach stimulates the metabolism and prepares the digestive system for the day. Ideally, the water should be at room temperature.

Water with lemon

Water with lemon not only hydrates but also provides energy and contains more electrolytes than plain water. Moreover, it's a source of vitamin C and may aid digestion by stimulating peristalsis and the secretion of digestive enzymes. Lemon also has detoxifying properties and may help detoxify the body.

Coffee

Coffee is known for its stimulating properties due to its caffeine content. It can increase metabolism and support calorie burning, which is beneficial during weight loss. Contrary to popular belief, coffee can be consumed on an empty stomach, though some (suffering from conditions such as excess stomach acid or irritable bowel syndrome) may experience discomfort. In healthy individuals, coffee on an empty stomach usually causes no digestive issues.

Water with apple cider vinegar

Consuming water with apple cider vinegar on an empty stomach is believed to be most effective. Apple cider vinegar is known for its high content of pectins, which can positively impact issues such as constipation. Besides, this drink may help regulate blood sugar levels and support weight loss. However, it's advisable to consult a doctor before deciding on its regular use.

Kefir (with flaxseed)

Thanks to the presence of healthy probiotic bacteria, Kefir benefits gut health and stimulates the secretion of digestive juices and bile, leading to a faster metabolism. Conversely, flaxseed is packed with fibre, essential for the digestive system's proper function.
