We are in for a real onslaught of horrors with Winnie the Pooh. Not only has the third part, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey," been announced, but there will also be a movie in which the titular psychopath will face Mickey Mouse.

Last year, a low-budget horror, "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey," hit the theatres. Its characters are well-known characters from children’s books by A.A. Milne. Murderous hybrids of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet have slaughtered people who came to the Hundred Acre Wood for relaxation. The reviews for this film were rightfully terrible, but it earned £4 million and received a sequel, which hit American theatres this year. It has also been announced that a third film in the series will be made.

After entering the public domain, Winnie the Pooh transitioned into a slasher film star. Stuart Heritage from "The Guardian" warned at the beginning of last year that Mickey Mouse might soon appear in a similarly tacky film, engaging in the murder of women in bikinis. His prediction turned out to be accurate; following Disney's loss of rights to the earliest version of Mickey Mouse’s image, a horror film titled "Mickey’s Mouse Trap" was produced.

It turns out that a film will now be made in which Mickey Mouse will face Winnie the Pooh. "Mickey vs. Winnie" is a low-budget horror film produced by Hundred Acre Wood Studios. It is not connected with the Winnie the Pooh universe.

The film, which Glenn Douglas Packard will direct, tells the story of two bandits who, in the 1920s, ended up in a cursed forest. The darkness of the mysterious place swallowed them forever. 100 years later, a group of friends enters the same forest. Their life becomes a nightmare when they encounter the aforementioned fugitives, who are now mutated versions of the iconic characters Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. The heroes try to survive, but the action takes a turn when Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh start fighting each other.

The film's creators stated that horror fans seek excitement from seeing iconic characters like Alien or the Avengers together on the screen. However, due to copyright laws, it is rare to showcase characters from nightmares. They described "Mickey vs. Winnie" as their tribute to this fantasy.

Will we get something on the level of "Alien vs. Predator" or "Freddy vs. Jason" but for less money? Time will tell. For now, "Mickey vs. Winnie" does not have a set release date.

More characters from fairy tales

Finally, let's remember that the creators of horrors with Winnie the Pooh are thinking in a truly Marvel-like way. They recently confirmed they want to create a universe with a monstrous team, including Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan, Bambi, Tinker Bell, Pinocchio, Piglet, Tigger, The Mad Hatter, and Sleeping Beauty. The film is to be called "Poohniverse". The question is, will it happen, since "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2" in the USA earned only £550,000 with a budget of £400,000.
