Mbappe bids adieu: Farewell feast marks end of PSG era
Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG at the end of the season. One of the best football players in the world organised a farewell banquet at the luxurious Parisian restaurant "Gigi." More than 250 people attended, led by his club teammates.
On May 10, Kylian Mbappe released an official statement on his social media announcing that he is leaving PSG. The 25-year-old joined the Paris team in the 2017/2018 season. Mbappe played a total of 307 matches for the club in all competitions, scoring 256 goals and making 107 assists.
The French media are abuzz about the grand farewell banquet that the French star organized on Monday (05/20) at the expensive Parisian restaurant Gigi. The place specialises in Italian cuisine, and the prices for the most popular dishes served there reach £52-£60 per person.
The Paris-based newspaper Le Parisien reports that 250 guests attended the farewell party, including a large group of PSG players and staff. French media also reported that even the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was invited but did not attend the celebration.
The highlight of the event was Mbappe's speech to the gathered guests. The Frenchman thanked them for their support and assured them of his friendship.
Today, I am here with my family. I consider all the people here close to me, so it will be easy to speak and open my heart before you. There is no groundbreaking news to share; I just want to thank all of you gathered here warmly - the player said, as quoted by the Spanish "Marca."
According to "Le Parisien," Mbappe left the banquet minutes after midnight and was taken away in a black van. Although the Frenchman has not yet announced where he will play next season, nearly all top sports journalists are sure he will join Real Madrid.
