Actor Mark Hamill's visit to the White House was a big surprise for many, just like his later participation in the press briefing. Hamill revealed that he was received in the Oval Office, and the opportunity to meet with Joe Biden was an honour for him. He also described the beginning of their meeting. That's when the actor proposed a certain nickname to the president.

I said to him "Mr. President", to which he replied: "call me Joe". Then I asked: "Can I call you Joe-B-Wan Kenobi?" — recounted Hamill.

The nickname "Joe-B-Wan Kenobi" is an obvious reference to the "Star Wars" character Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was Luke Skywalker's mentor. Hamill revealed that Biden responded with a smile to his words. It turns out that this was not the only reference to George Lucas's saga.

Joe Biden and Mark Hamill also recorded a short film that appeared on the president's official profile on May 4. In the video, the president first says, "May the 4th be with you". Mark Hamill appears in the frame shortly after, adding the word "always".

In the recording, Biden used a popular play on words existing between this phrase and the words from the movie "May the Force be with you". Interestingly, the slogan "May the 4th be with you" was first used in the context of Margaret Thatcher. This is how the editors of the London Evening News congratulated the politician on her victory.

Hamill part of Joe Biden's campaign?

U.S. media speculate that Mark Hamill's visit to the White House might be part of Joe Biden's election campaign, who will fight for re-election in the autumn. Observers have no doubt that support from Hollywood stars could help Biden in his fight for the White House.

Hamill is not the only popular actor who favours the current president. Recently, Robert De Niro called on Joe Biden to fight, expressing hope that the current president can win against Donald Trump again.
