Marc Hedrich breaks tradition as first European GM at Kia Europe
High-level changes in the most prominent brands aren't a common occurrence. As a result, they tend to create a considerable stir when they do happen. This is undoubtedly the case with Kia, as the company has appointed a non-Korean individual to head its European division for the first time in its history.
The newly appointed General Manager of Kia Europe is Marc Hedrich, who took over the position from Wona Jeong Jeonga. Although relatively new to the Korean manufacturing industry, having served for nine years as the president of Kia France, Hedrich boasts an expansive career in the car industry.
Over his 30-year career, Hedrich has held numerous management roles. His journey began in the 90s at Ford's French branch. He later improved his career in France, taking on the position of marketing director at Škoda, then Seat, and eventually Toyota. In fact, he started his ascent to higher strategic and managerial roles in these Japanese organisations.
In 2015, Hedrich became part of the French division of Kia as a managing director, before being promoted to president in 2021. His mission moving forward is to maintain positive sales momentum, gain critics' recognition and bolster customer satisfaction.
