- We are convinced that defeating Russia is necessary for security and stability in Europe. At this stage, there is no consensus on sending troops to Ukraine. We will do everything necessary to prevent Russia from winning, said Macron last week.
Now, the President of France explains his words in the Czech media. He mentions that shortly, there are no plans to deploy Western troops to participate in the war in Ukraine. However, he notes that various measures are being considered to support our eastern neighbour.
This does not mean that we are planning to deploy military forces in Ukraine in the near future. It means that we are starting discussions and considering everything that can be done to support Ukraine, said Macron, as quoted by Czech media.
In the interview, Macron mentioned Russia's impunity and the need to verify the current Western strategy with the declared goals.
- Europe is currently facing whether the current strategy is consistent with the declared goals. In my view, there is a need for a boost, a strategic awakening, as Russia's impunity threatens the security of the European continent and its values, emphasized Macron.
