Lukashenko orders stone clearance in Oshmyany for construction use

Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the Oshmyany region, located right on the border with Lithuania, to inspect the local tank battalion. During his visit, he couldn't help but notice the surrounding fields dotted with numerous stones. He subsequently ordered a cleanup which saw students, employees of nearby companies, and military personnel mobilized to clear the area.

During his visit to the Oshmyany region, right on the border with Lithuania, to check on the progress of the tank battalion's deployment, Lukashenko took time to observe the surrounding fields and noted a significant presence of stones. Following his observation, a directive was issued leading to a coordinated effort involving farmers and others to remove these stones.

"Industrial and social sphere workers, students from the Higher School of Economics and Agriculture, and even military units enthusiastically joined the effort. In total, around 200 people were involved," noted the Telegram channel Pul 4 Region.

The stones will be repurposed for construction

The clean-up campaign, dubbed as the "stone harvest", is set to continue until April 20. The stones collected during this period are planned to be reused in various construction projects within the region.

The Zierkało portal reminded its readers that this isn't the first instance of such a mobilization. Last year, even footballers from the Belarusian Premier League team Tarpieda-BelAZ Zhodino participated in the stone gathering effort.
