The first day of July in the Italian media was marked by the tragedy in the Italian city of Fasano, in the south of the country. In the morning hours, after notifying the services of one of the concerned men, the body of a 25-year-old woman was found in the shaft of a broken lift.

As it turned out, she was the daughter of the reporting man, Clelia Ditano. According to Italian media, the lift safety systems most likely failed, allowing the doors to open even though the cab was three floors below.

According to the current version of events, the 25-year-old Italian woman most likely saw the lift doors open, did not notice the absence of the cab, and began to enter. As a result, after just one step, it was too late to take any action that could prevent her from falling down.

Apparently, the victim, who lived on the fourth floor, called the lift. The doors opened, even though there was no cab, which had not come back up. The young woman took a step to enter and fell into the void, hitting the lift cab, which had stopped on the first floor, reports the likely sequence of events from the local newspaper "L'Unione Sarda".

Firefighters were needed to extract the young woman's body. When this happened, the local police took over the case to determine why the systems responsible for blocking the lift doors did not work.

The matter is grave because the death of 25-year-old Clelia Ditano occurred in a building belonging to Arca Nord Salento, the regional housing agency.
