The young woman, an airline employee, purchased the coffee from a vending machine at the Majorca airport. Shortly after starting to drink it, she was alarmed by the coffee's odd taste, and a horrifying discovery of crawling insects inside the cup confirmed her suspicions, Ultima Hora, a Spanish news outlet, reported.

Following this disturbing find, the 21-year-old went into anaphylactic shock. She encountered severe facial swelling and excruciating throat pain, which significantly hampered her ability to breathe.
She was urgently rushed to the hospital, where she spent 36 hours in the intensive care unit, as per reports from Spanish media. She was finally discharged on Wednesday.

The family files a complaint

The incident took a grave turn, requiring immediate medical attention at the airport. The airport's medical service responded by administering adrenaline and other emergency treatments before she was moved to a clinic in Palma for further care.

Her family has since taken legal action against the airport by filing a complaint with the national police, Ultima Hora disclosed. They argue that the contaminated coffee vend could pose a crime against public health, implying negligence on the part of the airport's maintenance of the vending machine, which has been taken out of service following the incident.
