Leaked Video Sparks Fears of Russian Aggression Towards Kazakhstan
A video leaked to the media has garnered attention. In it, the controversial members of the Russian State Duma and General Andrey Gurulyov suggest that "Kazakhstan will be the next target" of Russian aggression. Gurulyov claims the video was manipulated, but tensions between Moscow and Astana have been evident for weeks.

- "The Kazakhs will be next. The solution is already prepared," General Andrey Gurulyov says in the recording. The State Duma deputy supposedly shared it with his colleagues from the defence committee. He assured that after Ukraine, Russia could attack Kazakhstan, which has already been "approved".
Is Kazakhstan in Russia's crosshairs?
In the recording, where Gurulyov's voice is allegedly heard, not only curses but also a dismissive attitude towards Kazakhstan itself are audible.
Following the recording's publication in the media, Gurulyov stated that it had been manipulated. In a video published on his Telegram channel, he says it is "enemy disinformation".
Gurulyov has already accused Kazakhstan
It's worth remembering that Gurulyov has already baselessly attacked Kazakhstan. On April 2, when the Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) attacked a drone factory in Tatarstan, Russia, near the border with Kazakhstan, Gurulyov claimed that the drone could have been launched from the territory of this country.
The Russian general believes that the steppe areas in the northwestern part of the region are almost deserted and "you can bring anything there".
Astana has categorically denied the claims of the Russian State Duma deputy.
"The information circulated in some Telegram channels that drones were allegedly launched from the territory of Kazakhstan, which attacked facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan, is false" – the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan reported.
On April 2, for the first time since the full-scale war in Ukraine, Kyiv attacked Russia over 1,200 kilometres from the front line. Among the targets were the Shahed drone factory, which attacks Ukraine daily, and a local oil refinery.
