Laura Woods triumphs in Champions League final broadcast return
Fans watching the Champions League final broadcast on TNT Sport saw Laura Woods in the role of studio host. The journalist returned to work after a traumatic experience and a visit to the hospital.
The Champions League final took place on Saturday, June 1st. In the decisive match, Borussia Dortmund faced Real Madrid. The match was broadcast, among other channels, on the British television station TNT Sport.
Laura Woods hosted the studio, returning to television screens for the first time since an unusual accident. Her face showed no signs of the injuries she sustained just a few days prior (see photos at the end of the article).
To recap, the 36-year-old was spending a short holiday in one of the cottages. She accidentally shattered a glass lamp hanging over her bed with a pillow during her stay. Falling pieces of glass injured her face and hands. She was taken to the hospital, where doctors removed the glass fragments.
"I wanted to say a couple of thank yous ... To Dr Yannis Alexandrides and his wonderful medical assistant Zuzanna at 111 who opened their emergency surgery and came in on their days off, they were so gentle and have already worked magic that I didn’t think was possible to reduce the damage," wrote the journalist on Instagram at the time.
Woods posted photos of her injuries on social media (see the article's end). Due to her injuries, she had to take a forced break from work. She was initially supposed to host the studio for the highly anticipated fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. However, she ultimately did not participate in that event.
Fortunately, Woods' break from work lasted just a few days. During the Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid match broadcast, she discussed the game with guests such as Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, Steve McManaman, and Jose Mourinho.
