"The city urgently starts the evacuation of two hospitals (...). A video that has been widely shared online claims that an enemy attack on these medical institutions is imminent and suggests that these hospitals are harbouring military personnel," the announcement said.
"This is completely untrue and a provocation by the enemy, aiming to target the social infrastructure of the capital. In order to safeguard the children, their parents, and the medical staff, the city authorities are making every effort to relocate patients and doctors to other medical facilities within the capital," the message's authors stress.
The report added that the city has sought assistance from the Security Service and the Ministry of Health and informed them about the steps being taken to ensure the safety and health of the patients and hospital staff.
The reason behind the evacuation
The evacuation was prompted by comments made by Ivan Tertel, the head of the Belarusian KGB, at the VIII All-Belarusian People's Assembly in Minsk.
Tertel claimed that in Kyiv, at hospitals on Bogatyrskaya Street 30 and 32, "terrorists" are being sheltered - referring, according to the terminology used by the authorities in Moscow and Minsk, to wounded Ukrainian soldiers. He warned that they would be dealt with "in accordance with the laws of wartime - decisively and without hesitation".
