Many reports from Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. These reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.

During the UN Security Council meeting on 16 December, Nebenzya stressed that the Kremlin is indifferent to any proposals to freeze the conflict discussed during meetings between Ukraine's President Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron.

Rejection of Zelensky's initiatives

Nebenzya also stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's peace initiatives are an attempt to buy time, strengthen the fight against Russia, and gain new military aid. He says Russia is ready for negotiations, but only with those who can 'accept reality and end the war.'

Zelensky spoke of a "productive" meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump. He emphasised that everyone wants to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible and justly.

On Monday, Mike Waltz, nominated by Donald Trump for the position of National Security Advisor, said that Trump's team is exploring possible ways to end Russia's war with Ukraine so that it does not resume in the future.
