Southport is an exceptionally peaceful town in northwestern England. On Monday morning, 29 July, the attack occurred as artistic and physical activities were being held at the cultural centre for children aged 6 to 11.
According to the TVN24 portal, a witness to the massacre testified that suddenly, terrified and bloodied children started running out of the cultural centre building. According to police reports, this was the result of a knife attack on the facility.
The aggressor turned out to be a 17-year-old living in a nearby town. The boy injured as many as thirteen people, of which, according to TVN24, two children died. Nine - like two adults - are in hospitals.
Only three victims have minor injuries; six others who survived, including group caregivers, are in critical condition and fighting for their lives.
The perpetrator, according to witness testimonies cited by the BBC, arrived at the massacre site in a taxi, for which he did not pay. He entered the building wearing a mask.
According to residents' accounts, some children participating in the activities were saved and evacuated from the building. The police apprehended the perpetrator.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in a brief statement, noted that this crime is unimaginable. He conveyed that he is shocked by it - like "the whole country."
