According to AP News Agency, Kim Jong Un has health issues related to obesity. He is plagued by high blood pressure and diabetes. The intelligence agency from South Korea reported on Monday about the steps being taken by North Korean officials. They are seeking medications abroad to help the leader regain his health, mainly concerning hypertension and diabetes.
40-year-old Kim Jong Un is a chain smoker and reportedly abuses alcohol. Many members of his family have heart problems. His predecessors, namely his father and grandfather, died from cardiac-related issues. Kim Jong Il died at the age of 70, and Kim Il Sung at the age of 82.
According to the American agency, Kim is about 1.7 meters tall and weighs up to 22 stone. He managed to lose excess weight, likely due to a strict diet, but Asian media noticed that the North Korean leader had gained weight again.
Closed meeting of neighbours. Reporting enemy issues
The situation between Korean neighbours has been very tense for many months. North Korea has been launching balloons with rubbish towards its southern neighbour. This might be why there are meetings in the Republic of Korea on every topic related to the DPRK.
Lee Seong Kweun, one of the parliamentarians quoted by AP, says that Kim suffered from hypertension and diabetes before his 30th birthday. For this reason, there is a high risk of serious cardiac diseases. Koreans speculate that his obesity is related to drinking, smoking, and stress.
The media note that North Korea is an almost perfectly closed country. Therefore, obtaining information about Kim's exact health condition is impossible.
