Jeremy Renner had a terrible accident in January 2023. The actor was helping neighbours clear the area with his private snowplough. It was this 7-tonne machine that pinned him down when Renner tried to save his nephew from being crushed. The star paid a high price: he lost a lot of blood, suffered head, chest, and leg injuries, and had over 30 broken bones. He survived thanks to the intervention of a neighbour who provided first aid and called the appropriate services. In the hospital, doctors assessed his condition as critical but stable.

Jeremy Renner celebrates his rebirth

Jeremy Renner recalls the second anniversary of the snowplough accident that led to his hospitalisation. On Instagram, he thanked the medical staff who saved his life. "Ringing in my second "ReBirthday" today. I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again," he wrote jokingly.

Renner thanked "every nurse, doctor, first responder" who cared for him during his two-week hospitalisation. "I literally owe you my life," he added. "All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbours) who jumped to my aid and endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt New Year's morning. I’m so sorry all the haunting images I imprinted on you all (I’ll spare you all from the meat grinding images)."

Two years ago, Renner was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being crushed by a snowplough while trying to clear snow from the driveway after a holiday gathering with family. An accident report obtained by "Hollywood Reporter" showed that Renner was trying to help his nephew when the accident occurred.

Renner broke 30 bones during the accident and had to relearn how to walk. The actor said in June last year that he was "terrified" of returning to acting after the near-fatal accident and didn't have the "energy" for demanding roles. "I can’t just go play make-believe right now. Because that takes a lot of time to get right here every day just so I can, you know, have a positive thought, so I can progress, so I can always keep growing," he said.

Renner returned to the set of "Mayor of Kingstown" in January 2024. The Paramount+ drama series received a fourth season. There are three more major productions in development featuring the actor, including the eagerly anticipated next instalment of the "Knives Out" series.
