Jason Momoa joined the DC universe by taking on the role of Aquaman. His solo film from 2018 was a true box office hit, earning over £850 million worldwide. It was a successful production accompanied by many emotions due to Amber Heard's participation, who at that time conflicted with Johnny Depp. The second film about Aquaman's adventures also did quite well in cinemas. After its 2023 premiere, it generated over £300 million in ticket sales. Momoa, as the tattooed god of the seas and oceans, could also be seen in "The Flash" and "Justice League." Now he's returning to DC but will play an entirely different character.

Jason Momoa's new role

The actor is returning to the DC universe, but not in the role you might expect. He will portray Lobo in the upcoming film "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," where the main role will be played by Milly Alcock. The 24-year-old became widely known primarily for her performance in the Max series, "House of the Dragon."

Momoa announced the news of his new role on Instagram, referring to an earlier interview in which he expressed his desire to play the character. "I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favourite, and I always wanted to play Lobo because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role," he wrote.

Fans of the actor are thrilled with the news. On Reddit, one user wrote: "Finally a role in DC he was made for," while another added: "Born to play it." There was also a reminder of how Momoa left a meeting with James Gunn, DC's creative head, a few years ago, full of enthusiasm.

Jason Momoa debuted in the DC universe in 2016 as Aquaman in the film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." He appeared in "Justice League" in 2017 and starred in the solo film "Aquaman" in 2018. Last year, he returned in the sequel "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." The actor hasn't been able to complain about boredom in recent years. He is one of pop culture's most popular stars. This year, we could see him in the twisty comedy "Stuntman" (available on Prime Video, among others). Fans look forward to his performance in the second part of "Fast & Furious 10." There is also a film in preparation that will showcase the world of Minecraft.
