Further attacks on Beirut

This is already the fourth Israeli attack on the central part of Beirut this week. Previous strikes mainly targeted the southern suburbs controlled by Hezbollah. Several commanders of this organisation were killed in these operations.

Israel began its offensive against Hezbollah in September, following a year of warfare on the border with Lebanon. The US envoy, Amos Hochstein, after meetings in Beirut and with Israeli leaders, reported progress in the negotiations concerning a ceasefire.
