Terrifying news from the West Bank. Reports from Al Jazeera indicate that around 100 individuals, likely Israeli settlers, attacked the village of Jit, located east of Qalqilya.

According to reports appearing on social media, the attackers set fire to houses and cars belonging to Palestinians. It is known that two people were taken to a hospital in Nablus. Al Jazeera reports that one of them died, and the other was severely injured in the attack.

The Israelis reportedly used Molotov cocktails and stones in the attack. So far, six cars and four houses have been destroyed. Disturbing videos from the West Bank have spread across the internet, showing a terrifying glow of fire and smoke spreading through the village.

The Israeli-Palestinian war. The conflict continues

The issue of Israeli settlers in the West Bank has long stirred emotions. Despite objections from many countries, including the United States, Israel continues to legalise the construction of additional settlements in the West Bank, where Palestinians live.

At the beginning of July, the largest land seizure occurred in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli authorities announced that an area of 13 square kilometres would be allocated for Jewish settlement. According to the Israeli movement Peace Now, granting land state property status is one of Israel's primary methods of taking control over territories in the West Bank occupied since the 1967 war.

For Palestinians, such actions are territorial expansion, which prevents long-term peace agreements. It should also be noted that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues in the Gaza Strip, which began after Hamas's attack on 7 October 2023.
