Israeli embassies across the globe are on high alert due to growing threats of an Iranian attack on Israeli diplomats, reported "The Jerusalem Post", citing witnesses.

Some ambassadors, worried about their safety, have stopped attending public events. This concern emerged after an Israeli strike on the consulate in Damascus, which led to the death of a senior member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mohammad Reza Zahedi, among others.

Israel has refuted earlier media claims that it had evacuated diplomatic missions from various countries worldwide.

Will Iran strike Israel?

On Monday, the Iranian consulate, situated near the embassy in the Mezzeh district of Damascus, was entirely destroyed in an airstrike. Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the commander of the elite Iranian unit Al-Quds operating in Syria and Lebanon, was killed in this assault.

His deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Hadjirahimi, along with five other officers and at least one member of the terrorist group Hezbollah, were also killed - according to information from two Lebanese security force sources provided to Reuters.

The Supreme Leader of Iran announced, "The nefarious regime will be punished." "They will regret this crime and others like it, as God wills," Ali Khamenei declared. Hezbollah also vowed retaliation on Tuesday.
