At the beginning of this year, issues related to the operation of Intel Core 13th and 14th-generation processors began to surface. Initially, incorrect motherboard configurations were suspected, prompting some manufacturers to introduce new settings called "Intel Baseline Profile." However, these settings did not fully align with the specifications recommended by the processor manufacturer.
What did Intel write in its statement?
In an official statement, Intel disclosed that the recommended settings profiles for unlocked 13th and 14th-generation processors (Intel Default Settings) have been shared with motherboard manufacturers. However, it was highlighted that the "Intel Baseline Profile" profiles fall short of these recommendations.
The statement from Intel revealed that some motherboard manufacturers have implemented BIOS profiles named "Intel Baseline Profile" on their devices. Nevertheless, these settings deviate from the recommended default settings (Intel Default Settings) that the company recently communicated to its partners following reported stability issues in 13th and 14th-generation K SKU processors.
Intel also emphasized that the BIOS profiles labelled as "Intel Baseline Profile" appear to be based on energy guidelines that the company passed to its partners. These guidelines propose different power options for 13th and 14th-generation K series processors tailored to the capabilities of individual motherboards. Nonetheless, Intel strongly advises motherboard manufacturers against using "baseline" power settings when the boards can support higher values.
Intel mentioned in its statement that the recommended default settings (Intel Default Settings) combine thermal and energy functions with a collection of power delivery profiles adjusted to motherboards' technical capabilities. Hence, the company urges users to apply the highest available power delivery profile that is compatible with their motherboard’s specifications.
A table was included in the statement by Intel to aid users in implementing the settings mentioned above.
Motherboard manufacturers are expected to soon release new BIOS versions that incorporate settings in accordance with Intel's recommendations (Intel Default Settings).
