Infidelity made us stronger: Woman recovers marriage after husband's affair

For many, infidelity is synonymous with the end of a relationship. It's understandable; trusting again in such circumstances can be tough. However, 45-year-old American, Charity Craig, insists it is possible. Her story is detailed in a report by thesun.ie.

Her husband's affair with a coworker and the wife's reaction

Charity first crossed paths with her future husband, Matt, as a teenager at a Church camp. The two struck up a friendship, which evolved into a love-stricken relationship over time. Matt and Charity then tied the knot in 2004 when she was 21, and he, four years her senior. The couple have four children.

Regrettably, in 2012, Charity began to suspect her husband was being unfaithful. Her fears were realised; her husband had been involved romantically with a coworker. Upon his betrayal coming to light, Matt sought to repair their relationship - he changed jobs and got a new phone number. But this was too much for Charity to bear. She parted ways with Matt, only to reunite a year later, by which time they had, as Charity puts it, "become stronger than ever."

Reconciliation of the couple "We're happier than ever"

The couple chose to seek therapy, which proved to be a pivotal experience. It offered them a platform to confront their challenges. Charity shares how therapy allowed her to understand herself better, understand her anger management issues, as well her practice of "silent treatment".

"This betrayal left us devastated, but we were living in a toxic, unhealthy relationship then. You can't hurl a grenade into a home and expect to emerge unscathed, but I know we're happier than ever," Charity told "The Sun". "This affair actually turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to our marriage."

Charity now utilises social media to share her experience, running an Instagram account where she discusses how to cope with infidelity
