- Thousands of homes in Cuba were damaged as Hurricane Rafael passed over the island - reported the administration of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday. Agriculture also suffered significant losses. According to a preliminary assessment by Cuban Civil Defence, over 400 residential buildings were devastated by strong winds in the capital, Havana. Considerable material damage is also reported in other regions of the island.
- Due to air pollution, the international airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital, Sarajevo, cancelled many scheduled flights on Friday - reported the daily "Oslobodjenje". "Polluted air has isolated Sarajevo; many flights have been cancelled, and numerous planes have been rerouted" - reported the Bosnian press.
