How to screen record in Windows 11 using built-in tools
Windows 11 offers a tool for recording your screen without the need for additional software. We show you how to capture computer activity and save it as a video in Windows 11.
Whether you plan to create a tutorial, record gameplay in your favourite game, or capture any activity on your computer with Windows 11, screenshots might not be sufficient. Therefore, it’s helpful to know how to capture the screen image on your computer and save it in one of the popular video formats.
Contrary to appearances, this operation is not complicated and does not require specialised knowledge from the user. You just need to use the built-in feature in Windows 11.
With Windows 10, Microsoft introduced the Xbox Game Bar tool into the system, which allows convenient image recording and is available for free. Then, with the release of Windows 11, another screen recording tool was included, located in the Snipping Tool section, along with other functions intended for taking screenshots.
How to record the screen in Windows 11?
To start recording, launch the Snipping Tool using the Win + Shift + S key combination. Then, on the tool options bar, choose the option with the camera icon.
In the next step, define the screen area to be captured during recording. The Snip tool allows you to record any area, such as a window, a region of any size, or the full screen. Click the Go button to start the recording process.
To end the recording, press the Stop Recording button. The Snipping Tool will display a recording preview. You can save the video using the Ctrl + S key combination to the specified location. This only works for MP4 files.
There are many methods and solutions for recording your screen in Windows 11 and using the Snipping Tool is, in our opinion, one of the simplest. Recording videos can also be accomplished using applications such as ActivePresenter, OBS Studio, and Bandicam.
