How to keep your phone battery lasting all day and beyond

Do you remember when mobile phones could last several days on a single battery charge? Those days seem to be far behind us. Nowadays, due to the many features available on smartphones, we usually have to charge them daily. But don't worry—there are ways to help extend your smartphone's battery life.

Phones from about twelve years ago, with small screens and alphanumeric keyboards, could operate on a single charge for several days. Today, due to the growing number of smartphone features and applications, such performance is nearly unattainable. Modern smartphones are equipped with increasingly larger batteries, but at the same time, they have many elements that effectively drain energy. As a result, a good power bank often becomes a necessary accessory for every phone, which can be used to recharge the phone during the day.

Phones are charged daily

Nowadays, it's hard to find smartphones that can operate without charging for 2-3 days. Most of us still plug in our phones every evening to see a fully charged battery the following day. However, there are certain things you can do to take care of your smartphone's battery and extend its lifespan.

If you're wondering what to do when your phone's battery drains quickly, here are four simple tips to help you extend your smartphone's battery life.

Dim the screen

The first tip is to control the screen brightness. Large screens are a blessing for users because they allow for multitasking on the phone. However, they are an absolute nightmare for the battery. Every display needs much energy to function, so controlling the screen brightness is essential. The brighter the display, the more power it consumes.

If you don't need full-screen brightness, adjust it to suit the surroundings. It's also worth enabling dark mode in apps that allow it - this is effective for phones with AMOLED screens, where displaying black colour doesn't require energy.

Battery saving mode

The next tip is to enable battery-saving mode. This feature will limit the operation of background apps on your phone. You can find this mode in the settings, regardless of whether you have an iOS or Android smartphone. A phone with battery-saving mode enabled will last longer.

Background software

Next, if you use an Android smartphone, remember that background apps consume much energy. Therefore, disable all programs if you are not using software that runs in the background. It's also good to check if your device has too many unnecessary apps that you don't use. If you have such apps on your device and know you won't need them anytime soon, uninstall them.

Turn off Bluetooth

Finally, it's worth turning off the nearby sharing via Bluetooth option. This feature detects nearby devices using Bluetooth scanning. When it's enabled, the phone can connect to surrounding devices. To disable this option on an Android phone, go to Settings, then find the Google tab at the bottom of the menu. Choose the Devices and Sharing option, and then Nearby Sharing. Here, slide the Device visibility option to off.
