Thujas are not very demanding, but like any plant, they require proper fertilisation and care. September is the ideal time to provide thujas with the necessary vitamins and minerals to ensure they grow healthy and dense. One homemade mixture works wonders.

Thujas are found in many people's home gardens. They are a relatively easy option to maintain. Shaped into a hedge, they can separate us from the street or neighbours, providing greater privacy.

September is the best time to care for and strengthen thujas. A simple homemade mixture will prevent them from browning and make them grow denser than ever before.

Homemade fertiliser. Thujas will grow beautifully after it

Although many products are available in garden centres, these homemade methods must be tried first. The following mixture will not only be cheaper but also more environmentally friendly. It will provide thujas with phosphorus, potassium, and other necessary nutrients.

All we need are the peels from four or five bananas. First, cut the peels into smaller pieces, then pour four quarts of hot water over them. Blend everything and set it aside for two days. After this time, strain the resulting solution from the remnants and use this homemade fertiliser to water the thujas in the garden.

How to care for thujas in September?

The first autumn month is also a good time to give thujas their last trimming before winter. It is best to do this at the beginning of September so the plant has time to recover before low temperatures and frosts arrive.

Besides trimming, regular, though not abundant, watering is extremely important. In this way, the thuja will have time to accumulate the necessary nutrients before winter. This is also an essential care step for thujas to prevent physiological drought.
