Hamburger soup: Comfort cooking with a twist on a classic
Why venture out for unhealthy (and increasingly expensive) fast foods when you can prepare... hamburger soup at home? Does it sound controversial? Scandalous? Is this recipe outrageous? Not at all! Take a look and see for yourself.
What won't people invent? It's a good thing, as creativity knows no bounds other than those in our minds. I've had the opportunity to review, recommend, or occasionally advise against various recipes and cooking tips. So, when I discovered a hamburger soup recipe online, I felt compelled to share my thoughts on it with you.
You might be wondering what this intriguing hamburger soup is. Is it a broth cooked with burger meat? Or perhaps it includes a chopped fast-food sandwich? Neither! The sensational name conceals a mystery but not an intimidating one. The recipe simply involves the clever use of ingredients we associate with hamburgers: beef, onions, tomatoes, cheese, and ketchup. Note: It actually tastes quite good, and the hearty nature of this dish is delightful. I highly recommend it!
Hamburger soup
Ingredients:
- 2 and a half pints of broth,
- 1 and a half pounds of beef,
- 1 onion,
- 2 peppers,
- 14 ounces of chopped tomatoes,
- 3 carrots,
- 3 cloves of garlic,
- 3 potatoes,
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup,
- salt,
- pepper,
- oregano,
- 3 and a half ounces of block cheese.
Method of preparation:
- Start by chopping: Cut the beef into strips, slice the onion, and cube the peppers and potatoes. Peel and grate the carrots and press the garlic.
- Then, heat some fat in a heavy-bottomed pot and fry the onion, garlic, and beef.
- After a moment, add the remaining ingredients and drizzle with ketchup. Don't forget to stir. After a few minutes, pour the broth and cook the soup until the vegetables are tender.
- Season to taste with salt, pepper, and oregano.
- Finally, the pièce de résistance: cheese. Hamburger soup should be served with a small amount of grated cheese on top. Enjoy!
