Since Monday evening, tourists who wanted to use Split Airport have had to contend with significant challenges. According to the Slobodna Dalmacija portal, the IT system was attacked by hackers.

All flights scheduled to depart after 6:30 PM (Greenwich Time) on Monday were either cancelled or redirected to other airports. On Monday morning, flights were operating, but travellers still faced difficulties. - Airport operations were hindered due to the lack of IT support, and check-ins were being conducted manually. As a result, departures were also delayed - Pero Bilas, the deputy director of the airport, told the portal. Some flights were completely cancelled.

Professional services are working intensively to eliminate the effects of the hacking attack. We are in contact with all airlines and jointly seeking alternative solutions. We ask all passengers for patience,—added Bilas. It turns out that vacationers in Zadar also had problems departing on time.

Problems at Croatian airports

TVN24 reported that the Ryanair flight, which was supposed to depart at 9:45 PM (Greenwich Time) to Krakow on 22 July 2024, was first delayed and then rescheduled to the next day at 9:30 AM (Greenwich Time).

"Despite assurances from the carrier that they were organising transportation and hotel accommodations, we were left without any assistance. We are camping out at the airport, sleeping on the floor. We only received water, sandwiches, and an email from the airline about our rights," wrote an internet user on Kontakt24.
