One of Google's novel features is "AI Overviews." This function automatically generates summaries and answers users' complex questions. Additionally, users can tailor the displayed content according to their preferences, whether by simplifying the language or adding extra details. This feature has already been launched in the USA and is expected to reach other markets shortly.

Will Google assist in vacation planning?

Google's search engine is expanding to become a tool for planning, ranging from meal preparation to vacation organizing. For example, users will be able to plan a three-day meal schedule or develop a vacation itinerary using the search engine alone. Furthermore, Google is developing a feature that will group search results into thematic categories, making it easier to discover inspiration and new ideas.

Further innovations

Google is also enhancing visual search capabilities. With advancements in video understanding, users will soon be able to search for information by posing questions about videos. These innovations will introduce new methods of interaction with the digital world and are planned to be integrated soon within the Search Labs platform.

Changes will be optional

Google is rolling out a "Web" filter for users who prefer the conventional search experience. This feature enables users to filter results for classic textual links only. It was unveiled at the Google I/O conference.

The "Web" filter facilitates the easy discovery of traditional textual links, also known as blue links. This feature responds to feedback from users who sometimes favor conventional search results, such as when searching for longer texts or operating on devices with limited internet connectivity.

Are market changes imminent?

This shift could initiate discussions among SEO professionals, who have traditionally concentrated on optimizing their sites to appear on the first page of Google's search results. The new strategy implies that the future of searching may extend beyond redirecting to web pages to delivering answers in alternative formats, including AI-generated responses with cited sources for those keen on further exploration. The impact of these changes on industries that rely on internet traffic and clicks is yet to be determined.
