It is an invaluable ingredient in many Asian dishes, but it is mainly used in health-boosting infusions in the UK. The humble ginger root is a natural immune booster, especially when everyone needs support. While it cannot be cultivated in our conditions, it can easily be found in any supermarket.

The best spice for autumn

Ginger is known for its characteristic sharp and spicy flavour. The root has been used for centuries, not only as a culinary spice but also as an effective remedy. Its popularity is mainly due to its health properties.

Ginger is a source of many valuable nutrients. It contains vitamins A, C, E, K, and those from the B group, as well as essential minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and iron. Regular consumption of ginger may strengthen the immune system due to its antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is also often used as an effective remedy against colds and other infections.

Ginger also supports metabolism by reducing appetite and limiting cravings for sweet snacks. It is worth considering when you suffer from stomach ailments such as heartburn or nausea. One of the key active ingredients in ginger is gingerol, which is responsible for its spicy taste. Gingerol has strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

What does ginger pair with?

Ginger is a healthy and tasty spice that works well in both savoury and sweet dishes. It is excellent for seasoning pumpkin soup, adding an oriental flavour to meat marinades, enhancing the taste of sauces or stewed vegetables, and adding a hint of spice to sweet baked goods. It can also be used as a base for health-boosting drinks.

It's beneficial to incorporate during the cold season into your daily diet. Warming infusions will help fight the first symptoms of illness. Ginger works well as an addition to golden milk with turmeric or as the base for a simple, healthy infusion.
