Germans prioritize stress reduction and offline time in 2024
About 40 per cent of Germans have made New Year's resolutions, according to a survey conducted by the insurance company DAK-Gesundheit. The most important goal for the majority is to reduce stress. They also aim to cut down the time spent online.
The survey indicates that 68 per cent of people with New Year's resolutions want to lower stress levels in their lives. The next most popular goal is to spend more time with family and friends, as reported by 64 per cent of respondents, according to the weekly "Spiegel" portal.
Furthermore, 61 per cent of respondents plan to increase physical activity, and 56 per cent intend to eat more healthily. Additionally, 54 per cent wish to find more time for themselves.
The Internet consumes time and adds stress
A significant number, 34 per cent of respondents, have decided to spend less time online. This marks a substantial increase compared to 15 per cent a decade ago. Among the younger age group, aged 14 to 29, as many as 52 per cent want to use their smartphones less frequently.
Other popular resolutions include losing weight (34 per cent), saving money (33 per cent), and reducing alcohol consumption (20 per cent). Additionally, 12 per cent of respondents plan to decrease tobacco use.
The survey shows that Germans are increasingly focusing on mental and physical health, as well as the quality of relationships with loved ones.
