Gal Gadot's life-saving surgery amid pregnancy turmoil
Gal Gadot revealed that during her pregnancy, she underwent emergency surgery that saved her life. "This year has been one of profound challenges and deep reflections, and I’ve wrestled with how, or even if, to share a personal story," writes the "Wonder Woman" actress.
Gal Gadot, known among other roles for her part in "Wonder Woman," shared the dramatic experience she underwent during her last pregnancy. In February, during her eighth month, she was diagnosed with a blood clot in her brain. For weeks, the actress suffered from severe headaches, which left her bedridden. Only an MRI scan revealed the gravity of her condition.
Life-saving surgery for Gal Gadot
Gadot, just before the end of the year, posted an emotional entry on Instagram, sharing a photo of a newborn. She described what she went through before her little girl came into the world. "For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live," she wrote.
Following the diagnosis, Gal Gadot was immediately admitted to hospital, where she underwent surgery. During this time, her daughter, Ori, was born. The name Ori, meaning "my light," was symbolic. Gadot emphasised that Ori brought light during a difficult time.
The actress thanked the staff at Cedars Sinai Hospital for their care and support. She is now fully healthy and grateful for a second chance at life. Gadot stressed the importance of listening to one's body, noting that pain and discomfort can signal serious problems. She pointed out that although brain clots are rare, they can occur in pregnant women over the age of 30. Early detection is crucial as the condition is treatable.
Gal Gadot hopes her story will not scare women but inspire them to take care of their health. "If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing," the actress wrote on Instagram.
In 2008, Gal married Jaron Varsano, with whom she has four daughters.
